I have spider mites I am trying to control with Nematodes.

I came across “ bud washing “
Where folks are using lemon & Bicarbonate of soda to wash outside plants & to get rid of mite poo ect.

I am at the point where Researching bud washing is done & the only thing left to do is actually ask is it going to effect the taste & will it kill the eggs rather than just wash them off.

Tbf I may as join as I seem to get reply’s here

Lol I give up I just got told on another growing forum that Nematodes only live in soil I mean I mean my goodness does everybody just spout out stuff without knowing what on earth there talking about.
Kinda why I am trying here as a guest as the place I joined is well not very good

As long as you flush your plants before harvest (only distilled water for 3-5 days before chop), and fully rinse off the lemon-soda after application, it shouldn't impact the taste/terpenes/trichomes. The citric acid should kill those eggs and help detach 'em to be rinsed off.

I use Dr. Zymes Eliminator -similar ingredients, and is all natural with no residue. It can also be used post harvest, for bud rinsing before cure.
**Edited because I learned by the shared knowledge in this forum that "flushing" doesn't have any provable value. If you're still "flushing" before harvest, I recommend continuing to read this thread and research for yourself.

🤠flushing does nothing in order to flush your plant u would have to dunk the whole plant into a barrel of soultion you can never get a complete flush by misting them.🧙‍♂️

Thanks

Yeah I don’t need to flush to be honest as I use guano and other organic stuff that & I know when to stop feeding so there’s nada left. I used to be like omgoodness you don’t flush you need to flush till I learned more.

I can’t use any thing like Dr. Zymes Eliminator or Mite Massacureits it makes me ill as ive a rare condition that to complicated to explain in o open forum, anyway I’m in flower I wouldn’t spray anything in flower 😋

I meant to water them with only distilled water, no nutes, during the final week before chopping them. Then, I spray them down with Zymes and give them a thorough rinse. In my experience, the flushing removes any nutrient/fertilizer "flavors" out of the buds, and the washing takes care of any soft bodied insects or mold spores.
Interesting you should mention it, I've been considering dippin them into a barrel and giving them a few shakes under water for a deep rinse. Especially the past couple days because my ooutdoor grow was riddled with tiny white flies right at harvest.

Always glad to learn new things - especially about traditions that have no provable scientific value. The science seems pretty clear, I'll have to concede and make some adjustments in my own methodology.

Grateful for the info.

don't believe in bud washing --But it migjht help with your infestiation =- seems the only thing you can do --sorry to hear about it - wish you luck in handeling it (unless freeze your plant)

I wasn’t using Nematodes, I stand corrected. Nematodes live underground. I was using predator mites a mix of phytoseiulus persimilis & amblyseius californicus. They done the job no mites left.
