No. There's nothing going on with the genes other than straight heredity. Application of silver -- either in STS or CS -- inhibits production of ethylene, which is the simple hormone the plant synthesizes to induce formation of female reproductive structures. If ethylene is inhibited or depressed, male structures will form and hopefully produce pollen. And you have a hermaphrodite. Some strains reverse more easily than others, a trait already embedded in their genes.
