I read a couple of articles whereby folks left the lights off completely for 24-36 hrs during switch over, anyone have any thoughts on this please? Cheers!

I never thought about that, a long dark period at the end of flowering makes much more sense, more in keeping with the long darker nights of fall like in nature. On my scale I’m sure it won’t make a lot of difference anyGood question @Nick Carder
The reasons why you might employ this method (anecdotal):
The above may be better influenced by training and or strain choice.
- Reduce stretch where space is limited or this is a desirable outcome
- Accelerate onset of flowering
It's quite possible that the slightly faster finish would be offset by a corresponding reduction in yield.
I'd avoid this experiment if you have low lights off temps.
I think a dark period at the end of flower (prior to harvest) might be a better option.
