Sorry just saw this post - I agree that the first plant looks like either male or hermaphrodite - some indications of flower despite the clear appearance of pollen-producing "balls" - what did it turn out to be? I'm on the edge of my seat :)

Could be fem - hard to tell for sure still at this point. Watch for clumps of the "ball" shape formations at the base of the stem nodes; those are a sure giveaway, but can really only be accurately detected towards the end of the vegetation period.

Keep sending pics! Should be a no-brainer soon :)
