What’s actually worked for you when using cannabis to manage anxiety?
Hey everyone,

I’ve been doing a lot of reading and experimenting lately around how different cannabis products affect anxiety, and I’ve realized how different the experience can be from person to person.

Some people swear by low-THC/high-CBD options, others prefer certain terpene profiles, and some stick strictly to specific strains or even edibles vs smoking.

I’m curious what’s actually worked for you guys in real situations:

• Do you prefer flower, edibles, or oils for anxiety?
• Have certain strains or terpene profiles made a noticeable difference?
• Do you find THC helps or makes it worse?
• Any tips for avoiding that “overthinking” or racing mind effect?

I feel like this is one of those topics where real user experience matters more than anything.

Would love to hear what’s worked (or not worked) for you all.

I have never had any affect with CBD. I purchased it 3 times - nothing. I purchase high CBD seeds, made CBD oil and took it everyday for 2 months - nothing. I have used THC for anxiety and it worked every time. I have notice though with high doses of THC it sometimes gave me a little paranoia. But definitely, THC worked for me with anxiety. Also, I (only take edibles) noticed taking it later in the day, typically affected my sleep time.

Honestly haven't tried it myself but just from people I know, the THC paranoia thing you mentioned is super real - a few friends of mine had to dial back their doses significantly before it actually helped rather than made things worse. One of them swears by really low doses of indica dominant stuff in the evenings. The edibles timing point is interesting too, hadn't thought about that affecting sleep. Good to know THC actually did something for anxiety unlike CBD, most of what I hear is mixed on CBD honestly.

For me and the wife it's strains and terpines , the right strain, the right pheno having the terps needed

I had no noticeable affect from CBD. However, recently, I did find out that a lot of that might have to do with bioavailability. That is, the CBD does not get used for the most part because the body cannot use it. I found that the bioavailability can be enhanced by using lecithin and maltodextrine. I made the recipe and it dissolved in warm water. I drank it and noticed an affect. However, rather then the sleepiness I sought, it made me wide awake. It was like taking thc but having no euphoric effect attached to it.

Low and slow is the only way to do it. If you overdo it, you’ll just end up with more heart palpitations than you started with. I’ve found that high-CBD strains with just a tiny bit of THC are the sweet spot for actually calming the mind without the "head high" getting in the way.

For anxiety i like balanced strains and low temp vaping. This helps me feel chill without any edginess. For me I found some sativas make me super anxious so I try to avoid mostly.
